What is Wholistic Kinesiology?
It is the state of the art system of natural healing that looks at your individual health needs.
One size fits all doesn't work! We are all individuals, and just because we have similar symptoms doesn't mean the same solution will work for both of us.
With Wholistic Kinesiology, your underlying health imbalances can be determined easily and painlessly.
Where did Kinesiology come from?
A phrase often used instead of "kinesiology" is "muscle testing." Muscle testing has mainly been used by Chiropractors for their patients. Wholistic Kinesiology brings muscle testing to the mainstream. This technique is being practiced by trained practitioners who may or may not be physicians.
Practitioners are trained by Dr. J Junn, Author of Wholistic Kinesiology: A Quick and Easy System for Optimizing Your Health, Founder and Owner of the Wholistic Kinesiology Institute, and the originator of the Wholistic Kinesiology Technique. The Practitioners are well qualified to address your health care needs. If any practitioner suspects a serious underlying health care problem they will refer you to the appropriate health care practitioner.
How does muscle testing work?
Usually you see people being tested with one arm sticking straight ahead. (Think of 'playing mummy,' but only one hand is up instead of two.) The arm sticking out is used for testing.
If it holds strong when the practitioner gently pushes it, then the body is basically saying, "yes" or "this is positive". If it's weak...you guessed it...they body is basically saying, "no" or "this is negative."
With Wholistic Kinesiology, the practitioner touches meridian points on your body with one hand, and tests your arm with the other.
The meridian points are based on the acupuncture points. They correspond to organs or imbalances.
If a meridian point is weak, there is an imbalance and the practitioner will ask the body for information on how it can get back into balance. (No, the practitioner doesn't actually 'talk' to your body! She finds out through muscle testing!)
The cool thing is that often imbalances are detected before they turn into pathologies or show up on blood tests!
What will I be tested for?
You can be tested for anything that concerns you. Examples are:
1) Allergies. Are you allergic to something? Are some things good for you and some not? (It's not uncommon for a kinesiology client to come with a cooler filled with stuff from the fridge at home!)
2) Nutrition. What nutrients do you need and in what amounts? We look at homeopathics, vitamins, minerals, etc. (That same client who brought the cooler in likely also has a bag of supplements to check.)
You will be able to find out if you're spending money on supplements that are helping you or doing nothing for you. In the long run, you'll save money because you'll actually be getting supplements that work!
3) Bodywork, emotional work and lifestyle analysis.
And, most importantly, checking to see whether or not any of these correspond to any underlying imbalances you might have!
What are visits to a Kinesiologist like?
First visits are 1 to 1 1/2 hours long and include testing of body systems, food sensitivities and nutritional needs.
Follow-up sessions are often 45 minutes to 1 hour long. We retest the imbalances discovered during the last session to determine progress and current needs.
What conditions can Kinesiology help?
Most health concerns. By giving our bodies the nutrition they are asking for - and in the right amounts - as well as removing any emotional blocks to health, our bodies will take care of us by becoming healthier and healthier.
How soon can I expect results?
It depends. Some people get results right away. For others, the progress is slower and more subtle. It depends on how severe the imbalance is and how long you've had it.
This is about fixing the underlying imbalances, not just covering up the symptoms. So it's not like taking a sudafed and all the symptoms go away, but you're feeling off in other ways.
This is taking part in a delicate dance with your body to give it what it needs to be healthier and healthier.
I've heard that people bring their pets to Kinesiologists. Is that true?
Yes, many pets have benefited from Wholistic Kinesiology. As family members, pets are often brought to a kinesiologist for their own appointments. They, too, suffer from imbalances in their bodies that respond well to changes in their environment, supplements or dietary changes.
